The eligible expenses that may be submitted to this tax incentive refer to the previous fiscal year and include: acquisitions of tangible fixed assets; expenses for personnel directly involved in R&D tasks; expenses with the participation of directors and staff in the management of R&D institutions; operating expenses; costs of registering and maintaining patents and, expenses with R&D audits, among others (talk to us for more information).
The Investment Support Tax Regime (RFAI) is a tax benefit that allows companies to deduct from tax collection a percentage of the investment made in non-current assets (tangible and intangible). This regime is applicable to various economic activities and aims to encourage business investment in Portugal. Furthermore, it can provide total or partial exemption from some taxes, such as IPTU.
